Cutaway Backings

  • The same principles of non directionality, stability and lack of need for layering holds true with our cutaway styles. Please note density, softness of hand and stability of C824, C122 & C497. These have been developed with a unique process, Confil, which enables them to be the softest backings available.

The most important thing to know about embroidery backings is that everybody does things differently. There are no hard and fast rules. What works for one will not necessarily work for another. Machine tensions, hooping tensions, thread and stitch count densities are only a few variables. That is why we offer an ever increasing variety of styles.

Most problems are solved in digitizing. We can only supply the best backings, which will not solve all problems. It has become a very sophisticated business. There is no hard and fast relationship as to weight of fabrics and weight of backing. We promise to be at the forefront of the embroidery business, developing new and unique products to further our industry.

Tearaway Backings

  • Note multi directional stability and density of our styles. There is no give in any direction. They also tear easily and cleanly in all directions. We use an Elmendorf tear test to determine tear strength. The T678 is 1.5ozs. per sq. yard and a competitive random saturate is the same. It appears heavier because it is more dense - therefore it will hold more stitches. These are all wet-laid non-wovens. The idea with a wet laid backing is to always use one layer per embroidery application. If the embroiderer needs multiple layers - just switch to a heavier weight backing. This is the main reason we carry such an array of styles and weights.

As happens on many occasions a customer tells you that he is paying some price per yard, which is less than you are quoting, ask him if he is using multiple pieces. Often he will use several pieces of a light cheap backing, usually a directional or random saturate, where only one piece of JSI backings will suffice.

Please note the softness of styles T632, T633. These non wovens are made with a unique process making them softer than any others. We promise to be at the forefront of the embroidery business, developing new and unique products to further our industry.
